Sustainable manganese production

HAlMan develops a more sustainable route to manganese and its alloys. The project investigates hydrogen and secondary aluminium as reducing agents, using both manganese ores and materials recovered from industrial by-products and waste.

The ambition is to reduce the carbon footprint and energy needs of production while making better use of secondary raw materials. The project also explores manganese-based materials for lithium-ion battery applications.
